Lady Shox go 21-3 and won the Great Bend Bling Battle this summer
July 27, 2022
The Lady Shox are an age-12-and-under traveling softball team based in Sharon, Kansas, with players from Kiowa, Sharon, Medicine Lodge and Argonia. Their head coach is Megan Inslee of Sharon with assistant Nate Clover of Kiowa.
The team had an exceptional season ending with a record of 21-3. Inslee explained the Shox compete in the USSSA, an association that has tournaments most every weekend.
The Shox recently won the Great Bend Bling Battle. As the championship team, each member gets a ring which the girls think are "pretty cool," their coach said. If the Shox win the tournament, she awards the girl with the overall best weekend of play with the "bling" trophy.
"This group of girls we have are super coachable," Inslee said. "Their parents are very supportive and encourage their girls to practice every day." She explained the team can only get together to practice once or twice weekly.
"The girls are super great teammates – always pushing each other and they are very competitive," Inslee said. "They are easy and fun to coach." She gave credit to her assistant, saying, "Nate works as hard as I do."
Expressing thanks for this article to tell of the Shox's success, Inslee said, "The girls deserve the recognition."
Inslee is currently head volleyball coach at Medicine Lodge. At Chaparral High School she coached softball 10 years and volleyball 18 years.
