Alva School Board hears plans for improving student literacy

During the Alva Board of Education meeting Monday, Washington Early Childhood Center Principal Shane Feely talked about ongoing implementation of the strategic plan. He spoke specifically about approaches to improving student literacy in the fourth through eighth grades.
Feely, who is also the curriculum coordinator for the Alva schools, said in the goal area of curriculum instruction and incorporating research-based strategies, "We've done a ton of professional development in the area of content illiteracy and student engagement. This will be an ongoing thing.
