Woods County commissioners approve using lawn for Northwest Mural Fest

August 31, 2022

Two of the three Woods County commissioners attended the regular Monday morning meeting on Aug. 29. Randy McMurphy and David Hamil were present while John Smiley was absent.

The commissioners approved a request from the Alva Mural Society to use the courthouse square for the Northwest Mural Fest on Oct. 1. This will be the second mural fest in Alva. Plans are being made to have artists paint four murals over the weekend. There will be events on the square Saturday including a music concert.

The commissioners approved two items to be declared as surplus so they can be disposed of by junking. One is a Dell computer from the treasurer’s office and the other is a Fujitsu scanner from the county clerk’s department.

The treasurer’s office needs another phone so the commissioners approved that contract with Pioneer. County Clerk Shelley Reed said the installation fee will be just under $200, and each of the phone lines has been about $31 per month.

There was no new business. The commissioners approved payroll, warrants and claims as well as blanket purchase orders.
