“The car is only $8,000 but the extension cord is $40,000.” That quote appeared many years before electric cars started gaining popularity, so it is not unexpected that we have anxiety about the future of EVs and their effect on an infrastructure that already suffers from operating at maximum power. We have also seen the spike in electric bills as utilities struggle to keep up with increased costs of expanding service and maintenance.
