ACT 1 to kick off 50th season with adult comedy 'Don't Dress for Dinner'

September 18, 2022

Alva Community Theatre Inc. will kick off its 50th season with the adult comedy “Don’t Dress for Dinner” on Sept. 22, 23 and 24 at 7 p.m.

All but one member of the original ACT I cast will reprise their roles in this crowd-pleasing farce, written by Marc Camoletti and Robin Hawdon, that brought down the house in 1999.

“It promises to be an evening of hilarious hijinks, secret trysts and slapstick comedy,” said Director Thamazin Harrison. “We’re excited to start our season with a very funny adult play about a group of bumbling would-be swingers plagued with a series of mishaps and mistaken identities.”

The cast of stage veterans includes Ann Kline as Jacqueline, Darrell Kline as Robert, Becky Marshall as Suzanne, Bill Marshall as Bernard, Michelle Penner as Suzette and Steve Nutter as George. Assistant director for the production is Michelle Penner.

Admission is free to this special 50th season ACT I production and reservations may be made by calling 580-327-9060. Reservations for Thursday, Sept. 22 must be made by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20; reservations for Friday, Sept. 23, must be made by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21, and reservations for Saturday, Sept. 24, must be made by 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22. A limited number of general admission tickets will be available at no cost at the door before each performance.
