Northwestern falls in road match to Harding

SEARCY, Ark. – Northwestern opened up their two-game road trip against Harding University and were swept in Searcy. Addison Wimmer led with 14 kills. Andrea Coady collected 19 digs. Cameron Lobb accumulated 27 assists and 15 digs for a double-double night.
Set One
The Bison took an early advantage on their home court with a 4-0 run to start the match. Northwestern fought back with a right side kill from Courtney Russell and a middle attack from Carmae Jones. Tarra Parks fired off a deep outside kill to leave Northwestern trailing 10-5. Off the bench, Brooke Miller contributed a beautiful floating ace. Kills from Addison Wimmer and Jones allowed the Rangers to close the gap 14-10. Harding quickly responded by stringing together back to back points. Parks ended their run with a kill to leave Northwestern trailing 19-14. Wimmer contributed another kill and Miller fired off back to back ace serves to force Harding into a timeout 22-18. A rightside cross court shot from the Bison allowed them to clinch the first set 25-19.
Set Two
The Rangers fought back in the second with back to back kills from Wimmer. Russell contributed a deep cross court shot to hold onto Northwestern's lead 4-2. The Bison responded with a 3-0 run to retake the lead and force Northwestern into a timeout. Out of the timeout, The two teams settled into a point for point exchange. The Bison started to pull away with a back row kill. Wimmer quickly responded with a kill through the seam to leave the Rangers trailing 10-7. Setter Cameron Lobb contributed back to back service aces to allow the Rangers to take the lead 11-10. Harding fought back with a cross shot kill to spark their momentum once more. Jones contributed a kill. A late 5-0 run from Harding allowed them to take the second 25-13.
Set Three
For the start of the third, Wimmer fired off a deep kill. Both teams settled into a stalemate and struggled to take the lead. Off the bench, Abree Elsheimer contributed a kill for Northwestern to keep the game tied 4-4. Ravyn Burns fired off an attack from the middle to close a 3-0 Ranger run. Harding broke their run with a solo block. Wimmer contributed back to back kills to advance Northwestern into a lead 13-12. The teams settled back into a point for point exchange. The Bison strung together another 3-0 run to retake their lead 3-0. Burns broke their run with a middle kill. Wimmer contributed another kill. Harding responded with a middle roll-shot to sweep the match 25-20.
Northwestern finishes their trip in Russellville where they face off against Arkansas Tech University. The first serve versus the Golden Suns is set for Friday at 4 p.m.
