Cherokee school board hears about improved financial outlook

High School Principal Lane Pruett spoke to the Cherokee School Board Monday about the annual dropout report. “This is for the 2021 school year,” he emphasized. The high school had a dropout rate of 0.97 percent (representing one student), and the middle school's dropout rate was 0.

Pruett also presented the college remediation report, which is based on first-time college freshmen in the fall of 2020. Cherokee High School had 12 students go on to be freshmen in college. Only one needed reading developmental remediation. “That was the only place we needed remediation,” Pruett said.
