2021 winners in the 3- to 4-year-old division show their costumes following the Spook Parade before trick or treating at downtown businesses.

Ghosts, goblins and witches of all ages are invited to join in after-school Halloween fun on Monday, Oct. 31. The Alva Kids & Cops and Police Department are sponsoring the Halloween parade and costume contest.

Everyone is asked to gather in front of the Alva Fire Department at 3 p.m. to begin the parade which will proceed down the south side of the downtown square. At the courthouse stage on the west side of the courthouse, everyone will be divided into age groups for judging. Age groups are 0-4, 5-8, 9-12 and 13 up (including adults and family themed groups).

Alva cheerleaders will be judging the best, scariest and most unique costumes before three adult judges choose the best overall winner from each category. The overall winners receive a certificate for a bike from Walmart for up to $100. The adult group prize is a $50 gift certificate for their choice of five different restaurants in Alva. The family group prize is a family pass to Rialto Theatre or Cookie's Bowl.

Downtown Alva businesses will be stocking up on candy to hand out to trick-or-treaters after the parade.
