Doctor visits, part 3

When I was in my early 20s, I got a job as an insurance agent who went to people’s homes to collect their payments for their policies.

My insurance route included four towns of several thousand people (including my hometown). The town where I worked on Wednesdays was about 40 miles from where I lived with my parents.

I was working one Wednesday and I did not feel well. I would say that I had flu-like symptoms. I was in the living room of a nice elderly woman collecting her premiums, and she told me that I should go to a doctor.

I knew she was right, but I felt obligated to run my route....
