Alva has the only race in Woods County school board filings. The filing period ended at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The two filing for Alva Public Schools Office No. 3, were the incumbent Tiffany Slater, 52, who lives in Dacoma, and Kevin Pingelton, 44, who lives on County Road 430 with an Alva mailing address.

Kyle Rhodes, 38, of Freedom filed for the Freedom Public Schools Office 1 which is an unexpired term. No one filed for Freedom Public Schools Office 3 which is a full term so the school board will have to appointment someone.

John Hanson, 44, of Waynoka filed for Waynoka Public Schools Office 3.

Lary Weeks, 73, of Aline, filed for the Northwest Technology Center board. Northwest Tech has schools in Alva and Fairview.

Voters in the Alva Public Schools district will see Slater and Pingelton on the ballot in the April 4 general election. Also scheduled for that election are municipal offices. The filing period for municipal offices will be Feb. 6-8.
