Prioritizing school district projects
December 18, 2022
Dear Alva Public Schools Community,
This week's update centers around the Resources Goal Area of our strategic plan. Over the course of this semester, Mrs. Tucker and myself have met with stakeholders looking at priorities for improving school facilities. Staff and the stakeholder committee were surveyed and that information was used to help guide our discussions regarding facility improvement.
The committee and staff prioritized the following facility project for the district
Committee
• Roof Repairs/Leaks
• ADA Accessibility to Vocal Room at AHS
• Longfellow Single Pane Windows
• Lincoln Library Floor Slope/Foundation
• Activity Busses
• Longfellow HVAC in Music and Counseling
Staff
• Roof Repairs/Leaks
• Lincoln Library Floor Slope/Foundation
• Longfellow HVAC in Music and Counseling
• ADA Accessibility to Vocal Room at AHS
• Activity Buses
In addition to these district priorities, the committee and staff also prioritized improvements by site that included not only the above improvements but many others. In addition to these priorities there are continuous improvements needed in technology infrastructure, security enhancements and the track and field area. The committee also discussed the planned parking expansion project to the North parking lot, the “snake” drive, and the best use of office space at Alva High School. The administrative team along with the board of education will begin to develop a plan for the financing of these projects in the second semester.
As with each initiative, performance measures are used to track progress on the strategic plan. These performance measures can be found at http://www.alvaschools.com under the Accountability Tab.
If you have questions regarding the Resources goal area, please feel free to email Mr. Argo ([email protected]) or Mrs. Tucker ([email protected]).
