Proclaiming Jesus Christ

December 23, 2022

And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

– Luke 2:10-11 ESV

What an announcement! Every time I read this Bible verse, I can hear the excitement in the angel's voice. I imagine the angel feeling humbled being picked to deliver the fantastic news that our Lord and Savior was born. I'm often reminded of the first time I shared Jesus Christ with a friend. I was so excited and nervous all at the same time. I was nervous because I didn't feel worthy enough to share Jesus with my friend, yet I was excited that I could share with them about Jesus, my Lord and Savior. So I can imagine how much more amazing it would be to hear the announcement for the very first time the day our Lord and Savior was born.

As we look deeper into the verse, we see the excitement of Jesus being born and learn who He came to save. The angel says he has good news for everyone – not just a select few or a particular group. We are told that Jesus was born for everyone! This means that God so loved the world that whoever believes in Jesus will not perish but have eternal life.

Eternal life – what an amazing gift from God!

As we get closer to Christmas Day, I challenge you to seek after the excitement that comes with proclaiming Jesus Christ to others. If you haven't had the opportunity to share Jesus with someone before, I pray that God will give you the courage and opportunity to do so. This Christmas, see how you can help someone find freedom and forgiveness from their sinful life. Show them the best present of all: God's gift of eternal salvation.

God loves you, and I love you,
