In their first meeting of the year, the Woods County Board of Commissioners elected a new chairman. David Hamil first nominated Randy McMurphy to continue as chairman. John Smiley said he wouldn’t mind taking on the job sometime. Smiley asked Hamil if he were interested, and Hamil gave a definite no. McMurphy said he was willing for Smiley to take over so Smiley became the chairman, presiding over the remainder of the meeting.

After approving minutes of the last meeting on Dec. 21, the commissioners approved warrants and claims. The following monthly reports were approved:
