Next week is the filing period, Feb. 6-8, for the mayor city treasurer, city marshal, and four council seats in Alva. At least one person has announced his intention to run for mayor. Great! I hope every position has at least one or two people besides the incumbents file. Not because they are not doing a good job, but to show them others care about what's going on.

I'm too old to run for anything but City Marshal. If you want to have a good time running, but don't want much to do if you win, by all means City Marshal is the way to go. We could have debates on the courthouse lawn, and maybe hav...
