Ladybugs take district title over Newkirk

The Alva Ladybugs had no trouble winning the Class 3A-1 district championship over Newkirk Saturday night. Playing on their home court, the Ladybugs held the Lady Tigers to four points in the first quarter and zero in the second to lead 18-4 at halftime. In the third quarter, the Alva team scored 16 points while Newkirk had five. The final quarter was much the same, and the Ladybugs won 46-11.
With the win, the Ladybugs now have a 21-3 season record. They will take on the Perry Lady Maroons Thursday at 6 p.m. in Perry for the first round of regionals.
