It's time for a revival!

My wife and I recently saw the movie “Jesus Revolution” and we were thrilled to see so many other people in the theater watching it as well. This one incident I believe is part of a bigger picture, one that is very subtle but powerful in moving across our great nation, another Jesus Revolution if you will.

There have been many sinful and evil events in America over the past few decades, and they seem to be coming more frequently and more sinfully. After witnessing the entertainment on the Grammy Awards program, the halftime show at the Super Bowl and many other venues, I think many Americans are of the belief that this nation has gone too far away from the Lord and needs to return to the worship of the God who created heaven and earth.

The revival at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, is possibly the start of a nationwide string of such revivals that will be instrumental in turning the hearts of America back to God! I am so blessed to be part of college ministry here at NWOSU, and I am witnessing more and more students who want to know more about God all the time.

I am wondering if what we need here in Alva, Oklahoma, is a “Revival” to grab the attention of everyone, both young and old, in this area to gather together to worship the one and only true God? I think all Christians would agree that we need to be praising and glorifying God as much as we can, as we see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

We need to be restored to God, our Lord and King, as the world is continuing to fall away from Him. Let the reader be encouraged by the word of God in Psalm 85:4-7, which says, “Restore us again, God our Savior, and put away your displeasure toward us. Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger through all generations? Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your unfailing love, LORD, and grant us your salvation.” May the Lord bless our efforts to be restored to him, and may He grant us grace when we fall short!

We invite you to join us at College Hill Church of Christ, 1102 College Blvd., every Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. for worship or follow us on Facebook at College Hill Church of Christ Alva Oklahoma as we stream our worship service every Sunday. We are a fellowship of believers that follow God’s Word and love all who worship with us!
