Time flies

 


Time seems to speed up as we get older. The late Dan Shorter explained it this way: “A year to a 4-year old is ¼ of their total experience. To a 50 year old, it is 1/50th.” Do the math.

Elizabeth Bernstein says that life is speeding up for all ages. “The pace of life is insane these days.” I have to agree, but are there ways to slow down and “smell the roses?”

The difference between “clock time” and “felt time” is emotional. Negative experiences seem to last longer. We are often remorseful when a pleasant experience ends. Instead, look forward to the next. Anticipation slows down time. I love...
