Recreational marijuana fails in state

State Question 820 legalizing the sale of recreational marijuana failed, according to unofficial returns reported by the Oklahoma State Election Board. The measure failed by a 61.68 percent to 38.32 percent vote on Tuesday with a little over 25 percent of registered voters participating in the election.

Statewide there were 216,883 voters in favor of the proposal with 349,121 against.

In Woods County, 71.55 percent of voters were against the proposal. A total of 1,582 votes were cast with 1,132 against the proposal while 450 were in favor.
