Pair charged in Alfalfa County copper thefts

A Kansas stolen vehicle arrest of suspects led to discovery of stolen copper in Alfalfa County. Court records show on Feb. 16 Alfalfa County Sheriff’s Deputy Loren Nusser was dispatched to Osage Road and County Road 720 to take a report of oilfield theft. Nusser made contact with David Gilley, SandRidge Energy pumper.

Gilley said he had been in contact with Harper County, Kansas, Deputy Melanie Miller who had worked a vehicle theft in her county. When she caught the suspect, she found wire like that used on oilfield sites. She did a search warrant on his phone, finding Google map routes saved...
