Betty Lou Teters Powers was born January 23, 1946, to Leroy Teters and Merle Elizabeth Brown Teters in Stroud, Oklahoma, and passed from this life on April 9, 2023, in Goltry, Oklahoma. During her lifetime, Betty touched many lives with her love, kind words, and open arms. Her door was always open to those in need. On July 4, 1964, Betty joined the U.S. Army, along with eight other women. They were inducted in Oklahoma City. The nine women were called the "Sooner Platoon." Betty served almost three years.
