Alva Schools hire new principal, basketball coach, three teachers

The Alva Board of Education meeting Monday began with the administration of the oath of office to new board member Kevin Pingelton. Board Clerk Karen Koehn read the oath, which Pingelton repeated. He was recently elected to Seat 3 replacing Tiffany Slater.
The board reorganized, electing new officers. Koehn made a motion to elect Jane McDermott as president, herself (Koehn) as vice president, Shane Hansen as clerk and Larry Parker as deputy clerk. Hansen seconded the motion, and all members voted in favor.
