Woods County Commissioners approve road crossings

The Woods County Commissioners had a very brief agenda for their regular meeting Monday morning with only four action items. Chairman John Smiley opened the meeting with Commissioner Randy McMurphy and First Lieutenant Jason Perks attending. They were pleased to learn that Commissioner David Hamil is making progress in rehabilitation following surgery and may return to Alva early in June. He will still need follow-up physical therapy.

After approving minutes of the May 15 meeting, the commissioners approved five road crossing permits for Select Energy in District 3. Smiley said the crossings were in the area of Canadian Road between County Road 500 and County Road 510 near the border with Alfalfa County. Select is paying $500 fee for each of the permits. The legal description of the permits is: 28-24-13 to 21-24-13, 8-23-13 to 5-23-13, 17-23-23 to 8-23-13, 5-23-13 to 4-23-13, and 21-24-13 to 16-24-13. Smiley said the water is coming from three different landowners in the area.

The commissioners approved the creation of a new appropriations account: Donation – Sales Tax Countywide. This will be used for the Schlarb memorial benches and future donations of this type.

In final action, the commissioners approved blanket purchase orders before adjourning.
