Every year, about 400 measures become new law

 


Now that our regular legislative session has concluded, I wanted to give a glimpse of how many bills were signed into law.

Of the 1,991 House bills and joint resolutions introduced this year in our regular session, 213 were sent to the governor. He also received 203 of the 1,273 Senate bills and joint resolutions introduced.

He's already signed 305 measures into law (or they became law without his signature). He has 15 days from sine die to consider signing additional measures or they become pocket vetoed.

This is average, as each year about 400 measures become new law.
