Keeping hope alive
August 25, 2023
How good are we at waiting patiently for some event to occur, such as Christmas or a birthday? How patient are we to see someone we haven’t seen in a long time? Patience is a virtue according to Galatians 5:22 that we should be developing. When we hope for something or to see someone, we must be patient until the time is right for those things to be delivered. Hope is something that can keep a person strong when waiting on something or someone.
As Christians, we hope for the eternal life that is promised to us by our Lord Jesus the Christ. That hope is the thing that keeps driving us forward through our lives on this earth, looking forward with patience for the redemption of our bodies. Romans 8:22-25 says, “We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” So we are eagerly waiting, hoping for something we have not yet attained but have been promised and have faith in our God that He will deliver. And we know that the Lord God keeps His promises, so our hope is safe in Him!
This hope keeps us going through many hard times in our lives, times where Satan is pounding on our weaknesses and times where we feel all alone wondering where God is. This is when we reach down and grab that wonderful hope we have and get our lives back on track. According to the scriptures, we desire this hope to come to fruition so intensely that we groan for it. Let the reader be encouraged to keep that hope alive by reading the Holy Scriptures and getting on our knees to commune with our Lord! He is faithful and just and will deliver us through any storm Satan can throw at us! And the congregation says, “AMEN!”
