Alvan wins Oklahoma poem contest

LOCUST GROVE – The Rural Oklahoma Museum of Poetry (ROMP), Locust Grove, conducts an annual contest on the theme of honoring Oklahoma in poetry. There are four categories, and the winners are awarded cash prizes and medals each year at Wonder City Wordfest.

Vivian Williams of Alva was the first-place winner in the K-4th grade category.

“Vivian’s poem ‘Farm Life’ is a beautiful and imagery-filled description of a quiet day in Oklahoma. It is a lovely poem that honors the state’s simplicity and rural roots,” said Shaun Perkins, ROMP executive director.
