Alfalfa County employees ask commissioners about raises, commissioners explain budget shortfalls

Two Alfalfa County employees attended the Board of Commissioners meeting Monday morning with questions about raises. Donna Irvin and Diane Williamson asked Garret Johnson, Mike Roach and Nate Ross why county highway employees received a raise when the 10 deputies in the courthouse had not gotten one since 2016. All three commissioners explained that highway employees are paid from a different budget than the deputies, who are paid out of the County General account, and that there just wasn't any money to give raises from that budget.
