Oklahoma movie 'Twisters' leads weekend box office

A surprising number of vehicles have been parked around Alva’s downtown square during the evening hours. Apparently, the movie “Twisters” is attracting a lot of moviegoers. This made-in-Oklahoma movie topped the box office over the week, bringing in $80.5 million, according to the Associated Press. That’s $30 million more than analysts expected initially, and makes for the biggest opening of a live-action movie yet this summer.

One fan who saw this sequel said it’s even better than the 1996 “Twister” set in Wakita. The 2024 movie was filmed in Oklahoma. Moviegoers will see some familiar places...
