Woods County commissioners sign agreements with Alva, Waynoka

• Sheriff’s deputies can work as part-time police officers

The Woods County commissioners signed resolution agreements with the city governments of Alva and Waynoka allowing county sheriff’s deputies to work part time for those cities. The two motions were approved during Monday’s meeting with Commissioner Randy McMurphy, Commissioner John Smiley and District 1 Foreman Damien Starks present. County Clerk Shelley Reed also attended.

Earlier, the commissioners signed a similar agreement with Alva to allow Interim Sheriff David Cummings to work part time as a police officer. Assistant DA Brian Mitchell realized it would be a good idea to have agreements...
