In Luke 9:57-62, Jesus invites three men to follow him but each one, for one reason or another, decide that they have more important things to do. In verse 62 Jesus says, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” Jesus is teaching us that nothing in this world is more important than following him! In Luke 14:26, Jesus also says, “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters – yes, even their own life – such a person cannot be my disciple.”
