City of Alva and Avard Rail join in project to create industrial park

• Bid accepted to replace water storage tank

An agreement between the Avard Rail Trust Authority (ARTA) and the Alva Utility Authority (AUA) will set up a site-ready space for economic development between Alva and Hopeton. Paid for by federal funds for rural development through the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, the plan will also provide the City of Alva with more fresh-water resources.

Bill Myers of Myers Engineering spoke to the AUA Monday night. He was accompanied by Stan Bixler, chairman of the ARTA, and Glen Hayes of Myers Engineering. Drake Lewis, Alva assistant public works director, also helped with the presentation.
