The Woods County Excise Board held a brief special meeting Wednesday morning to finalize some time-sensitive items. Chairman Bob Seivert was absent so Vice Chair Chris Olson opened the meeting with member Joe Shirley present. Also at the meeting were County Clerk Shelley Reed and County Assessor Renetta Benson.
After determining a quorum, board members looked at the fiscal year (FY) 2024-2025 Estimate of Needs and Budgets for Woods County. Reed said this report needed to be finalized and sent to the state so the assessor can send out next year’s tax bills. The county budget totals $10,096,073.76, which is about $1 million less than the previous year. Reed said this mainly means a decrease in the building fund. The board approved the report which included the health department budget. The health department had a large carryover so their budget totaled $1.3 million.
Benson presented the assessor’s budget for revaluation and FY-2024-2025 revaluation charges for the schools and health department. These costs are split by the schools, the county and the health department. Board members approved that budget.
The board members also approved a resolution establishing a new fund for the Sheriff Funding Assistance Grant to track use of a state grant.
