AHS's Cadence Parker takes High School Best of Show in Metcalf Art Competition

On Thursday, Nov. 7, the 2024 Metcalfe Art Competition in Durham held its 20th Award Day. Nine area schools sent 170 eager students, who arrived by 10 a.m. ready to see their art on display, the stars and ribbons awarded, and, of course, the envelopes holding their prize money. Out of all the first-place winners, one entry from the high school division and one from the junior high school was chosen as Best of Show. Alva High School student Cadence Parker earned the High School Best of Show and $100 for her completely handmade felt cowboy hat.
