Uncle Nick – a wonderful homecoming
As I think back, one of the most vivid memories of my childhood was the day my Uncle Nick returned from World War II. It was only a few weeks following V-J Day, and his homecoming was spectacular. There were ticker-tape victory parades through the heart of Manhattan, but I was still considered too young to attend them. Nick’s return was the occasion for a wild and exuberant block party.
