There is new activity in Mrs. Anne Graham's first grade class – his name is Walter.
Walter is a three-month old hedgehog, and all the students love him. Mrs. Graham got Walter over fall break. She has had class pets in the past and found that they are a great motivator for the students.
For Mrs. Graham's students, Walter is an encouragement to read. When a student earns two accelerated reader (AR) points in a week, they get to hold Walter and read to him.
