Northwestern Oklahoma State University associate professor of visual arts David Poindexter presented at the Oklahoma Art Educators Association (OAEA) Fall Conference last month.
The lecture titled "STEAM: Connecting the Arts with STEM Disciplines for Improved Outcomes for All" highlighted how incorporating artistic skills like creative thinking and design can enhance STEM courses. Poindexter emphasized the benefits of hands-on education and collaboration, promoting creativity and curiosity at the core.
The OAEA Fall Conference is an annual event that brings together art educators from across the state. It provides a platform for sharing ideas, learning new techniques and networking with peers. The conference includes workshops, presentations and discussions led by experienced educators and artists, covering a wide range of topics in art education. Attendees gain valuable professional development opportunities, fresh inspiration and practical strategies to enhance their teaching practices and foster creativity in the classroom.
