Suspicious vehicle stop leads to arrests for copper theft

Three men are facing multiple felony charges after an investigation into copper thefts by the Woods County Sheriff’s Office.

Charges were filed Dec. 18 in Woods County District Court on Kyle Evan Hammond, 31, of Wichita, Kansas; Cole Keith Lombard, 36, of Pratt, Kansas; and Bobby James Cox, 41, of Wichita, Kansas. Ten felony counts of trespass and damage to critical infrastructure facility have been filed against each man. Each count is punishable by a fine of up to $10,000 and/or by imprisonment in the custody of the Department of Corrections for up to ten years.
