Alva hosted the annual Shootout basketball tournament last week with the Alva Goldbugs winning the championship trophy.
The Alva JV boys also played to help round out the tournament schedule. Although the JV Goldbugs lost all three of their games, they gained some valuable experience. In the first round Thursday, the Kingfisher Yellowjackets beat the Alva JV 83-26. The JV Goldbugs played the Weatherford 9th grade team on Friday with Weatherford winning 63-37. In the consolation final on Saturday, Cimarron, Kansas, beat the JV Goldbugs 61-25.
