In 1981, Donald Igwebuike became a place kicker on the Clemson University football team. He was “a” kicker, not “the” kicker. He shared place kicking duties with a teammate named Bob Paulling.
Igwebuike kicked the majority of the team’s field goals while Paulling converted most of the extra points. In Clemson’s opening game of the season, Igwebuike booted a 52-yard field goal in his first-ever attempt in his first ever football game!
