Poor and homeless

Homelessness is a pressing social issue that affects millions of people worldwide. We see the tragedy brought about by war as thousands of refugees seek shelter, but why, in the richest country in the world, do an estimated 650,000 Americans live in the street?

Many of them suffer from mental illness and/or substance abuse issues while millions with the same issues are not homeless.
