After an extensive search and interview process, the Alva Board of Education selected Jeremy Brashears as the new school superintendent beginning July 1. Previous superintendent Tim Argo announced his resignation early in the school year so the board would have ample time to find a replacement.
Two races developed in candidate filing for Woods County. Sheriff Rudy Briggs Jr. planned to retire at the end of June. Filing for the sheriff opening were Keith Dale, the undersheriff, and Randy McCullough who recently retired from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. That race would not be decided...
