City election will be April 1, candidate filing Feb. 3-5

The Alva City Council held a brief special meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at noon with two items on the agenda.

Councilmembers voted to approve Resolution No. 2025-001 calling for a general election on April 1. The filing period for the election will be from 8 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5.

Offices open for election are city treasurer, currently held by Trent Goss, and the following city council members:

• Ward 1, Seat 1 currently held by James Hoffman

• Ward 2, Seat 1 currently open, previously held by Taylor Dowling

• Ward 3, Seat 1 currently held by Troy Brooks
