After the holiday break, the Alva Goldbugs faced the Blackwell Maroons in a home game Friday night, Jan. 3. Both teams got off to a slow start with a first quarter tie. The Goldbugs had a great second quarter with four three-point shots to lead at the half, but Blackwell wasn't finished. They outscored Alva in the final two quarters, but the Goldbugs pulled out a narrow 63-59 win.
Alva scored the first two baskets of the game, but Blackwell soon tied the score at four points each. Kelan Penco's three-point basket gave the Goldbugs the edge, but Drake Hankins' deadly aim from three-point range...
