Justin Dowdy came away with $10,000 of the $14,000 in funding he sought from the Alva Tourism Committee Wednesday. It wasn't an easy process for Dowdy, who was grilled about his planned event by committee members.
Dowdy is working on Bull Battle III scheduled for April 7 in Alva. He was still in high school when he put on his first bull riding contest in 2008. He took a few years off due to a time-consuming job although he received lots of inquiries about when he was planning another bull riding. His most recent production was in 2014.
