January Rotary Students of the Month honored

Hayden Vasquez

Hayden Vasquez is the son of Anne Sutter.

High school activities include Key Club, band, football, Cross Examination Debate 3rd Place, FEX two time state placement and One Act. Vasquez is employed as DJ for Boss Music. His goal is to attend the University of Oklahoma. The best advice Hayden could give to a freshman is, "Stay focused." his personal philosophy in life is, "Don't let other people's negative actions affect your life."

Maya Stewart

Maya Stewart is the daughter of Chris and Tisha Stewart.

High school activities include student council, FCCLA, Health to others, Key Club and FCA. She has held offices in FCCLA and Health to Others and FCA as well as being a part of the Class of 2018's Officer Team for three years. Activities outside of school include being a varsity cheerleader for four years and was chosen as captain and being a member of the First Baptist youth group and Bell Choir. Maya works for the Alva Coop during the summer and also mows lawns around town. She plans to earn her bachelor's degree in English education and become an English teacher.

The best advice Stewart could give to a freshman is, "Make everyday in high school worth it. Don't wish it away." her personal philosophy is, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and future" (Jeremiah 29:11).
