Classroom sleepers

Occasionally, I have “non-trads” (non-traditional students) in class. By non-traditional, I mean someone a bit older than the rest of the class. And occasionally, our non-trads will “nod-off” in class. Trust me, you don’t have to be over 40 to sleep though one of my classes – or sermons – or lunch dates.
A few years back, they gave me the opportunity to teach Comparative World Religions with an ITV feed to Woodward. It met from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday nights. It was full of young, bright, athletic students who did their best not to snore. That’s OK. I tell folks that, “until I fall aslee...
