The road looked suspiciously familiar

February 11, 2018

The government was to shut down Friday because, like the old and senile people they are, they don't play well together. Trump signed a spending bill to avert the shut down. Rather than figure out a budget next time I run short, I think I will just pass a spending bill and become a holdup man until I have enough money to fund it. What is the difference in that and the government robbing us for their lack of financial responsibility?

A lot of the commercials have actor portrayals of the real folks. I wonder why they don't use the real people that the calamity has happened to. They probably need the money worse than the actors anyhow. One of my favorites is Tom Selleck hawking the attributes of a reverse mortgage. He tells me that he knows what I am thinking because he thought the same thing too. He has studied reverse mortgages and they are a great way to use the equity in your home for many uses. What I am really thinking is how stupid Tom Selleck must be to have lost all his acting money and need a reverse mortgage on his home!

I went to Josh's junior varsity basketball game at Fairview on Tuesday. He and several other players didn't get to play, but they looked real good jumping up and down during the game.

I had been to Enid earlier in the day for a doctor's appointment for Cleo, so quite a bit of the road looked suspiciously familiar. I did devise a plan that worked out well. Dad likes to go to Canton to the casino, so while I watched the JV games he went to the casino. It was a good trip because he upped my inheritance a bit and we got to visit coming and going. One plus was there wasn't a slow down at the bridge south of Orienta where they are building a new bridge. A time or two when we went east, I was afraid I would grow old waiting on the lights over by Medford.

An elderly man suffered a massive heart attack. The family drove wildly to get him to the emergency room. After what seemed like a long wait, the ER doctor appeared wearing his scrubs and a long face. Sadly, he said, “I'm afraid grandpa is brain-dead, but his heart is still beating.”

“Oh, dear God,” cried the wife, her hands clasped against her cheeks with shock. “We've never had a Democrat in the family before!”

Don't forget to go vote Tuesday, and have a blessed week.
