Lady Bison Take First GAC Road Test

September 29, 2016

SHAWNEE (posted Sept. 28, 2016) – After notching their first Great American Conference win of the season with a 3-0 drubbing of rival Southern Nazarene on Tuesday night, Oklahoma Baptist Women's Soccer is ready to play their first road contest in GAC play. The Lady Bison head to Ada, Oklahoma, to take on East Central at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29 at Tiger Field.

Oklahoma Baptist (4-3, 1-2 GAC) is currently tied with ECU on points in the GAC standings in fourth place. The Lady Bison are led offensively by Abigail Hicks and Ruth King, who each have two goals, while four other Lady Bison have scored one goal each. Oklahoma Baptist is presently averaging 14.4 shots per match, the third-highest total in the league, while converting their shots into goals at a .079 clip.

Defensively, Emma Beck picked up her third clean sheet of the season, tying her for the second-most among GAC goalkeepers. She holds a .809 save percentage to go along with a 1.29 goals-against average. Oklahoma Baptist's three clean sheets is the most they've recorded in season since OBU shutout four opponents in 2014.

East Central (1-5-1, 1-1 GAC) also sits in fourth place, and got their first win of the season last week against Northwestern Oklahoma State. The Tigers have scored five goals this season, but are producing goals at a .056 rate on an average of 13.50 shots/match. Lexi Hurley looks to have taken over netminding duties for ECU, having played the last 120 minutes. She holds a 3.08 GAA and .556 save percentage.

The Lady Bison take the weekend off, but will return to action on Monday, Oct. 3 when they welcome Jarvis Christian College to the OBU Soccer Complex for a 5 p.m. match.
