At Alva High School, every month during the school year teachers and faculty vote on two students to become the student of the month.

The students selected as the September Rotary Student of the Month are Cathy Mapes and Austin Shklar.

At the beginning of the year, all seniors are eligible for this award. Each month teachers and faculty vote for one boy and one girl to receive this award and the student with the most votes receives the honor. Students must demonstrate citizenship, scholarship, leadership and deserve to be recognized by their individual efforts.
