Two local students named to OSU Homecoming Steering Committee

Oklahoma State University (OSU) junior Courtney Mapes and OSU sophomore Kally Gordon, both from Alva, have been named to the 2016 OSU Homecoming Steering Committee.

Mapes is an animal science major st OSU. She is the daughter of Jeff and Michelle Mapes. As part of the homecoming steering committee, Mapes will oversee the homecoming royalty applications, selection, coronation, orange reflection judging and other appearances, prepare VIP gift baskets for judges, plan VIP judges and Grand Marshal Breakfast reception and coordinate golf cart tours and hospitality room for the 50-year reunion group.

Gordon is a nutritional sciences major at OSU. She is the daughter of Brian and Kathy Gordon. As part of the homecoming steering committee, Gordon will plan and organize the parade by working with alumni staff and city officials. This includes soliciting entries, leading the parade safety meeting and being present the morning of the parade. This also includes contacting and securing high school bands and judges for the parade band competition and overseeing the bands the morning of the parade and at the awards ceremony.
