Southeastern Golf Wins MSU Invitational

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Southeastern closed out the fall portion of the schedule in style as they saved their best score for the final round and rallied from seven strokes off the lead to win the Midwestern State Invitational by four strokes with a team tally of 884.

The Savage Storm fired a third-round 288, besting their 289 from the second round, and moving from a tie for second with host Midwestern State and passing St. Mary's for its first win of the season.

The win is also the first under new head coach James Chambers who needed just five tournaments at the helm to log his first victory.

Hayden Foster turned in his second-straight under-par round and earned All-Tournament status after finishing tied for fourth, carding a two-under 70 in the final round to finish with a 219 for the event.

Ryan Woods matched the lowest round of the tournament, a 68 posted by Foster on Monday, and added that to his pair of 76's to climb all the way into the top 10 and finish tied for seventh with a 220.


Sam Berry had his worst round of the week, carding a 78, but was still able to finish 11th with a three-round score of 222.

Trevor Proctor lowered his score for the second-straight round and posted an even-par 72 on Tuesday to climb into a tie for 22nd with a tourney score of 226.

Cody Darling rounded out the competitors with a 78 in the final round and finished with an event total of 239 to place in a tie for 73rd.

Nick Wren turned in his best round of the week with an 82 on Tuesday and closed out the tournament with a 257 to finish 97th.


The Storm bested St. Mary's by four strokes, winning 884-to-888.

The top two separated from the pack though as third-place Arkansas-Fort Smith was 11 shots behind second with an 899.

St. Edward's was fourth with a 900 while host MSU and Cameron were tied for fifth with scores of 901.

Four of the 18 teams competing were from the Central region, with SE finishing 35 shots ahead of the highest of those finishers as Arkansas Tech and Southern Arkansas finished tied for 11th with scores of 919.

Concordia-St. Paul was in 14th with a 932, while Southern Nazarene was 16th at 936.
